About this programme item

Amy is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her work explores the space between abstraction and imagination, using vibrant colour, intuitive mark-making, and layered forms to reimagine botanicals through painting, printmaking, and handwork. These pieces act as portals, glimpses into post-apocalyptic landscapes where exaggerated leaves, elongated stamens, and distorted flora evoke both memory and possibility.

Amy’s practice is deeply rooted in generational narratives and how they shape identity, belonging, and the stories we inherit. “At the same time,” she reflects, “I consider how these stories can evolve, how we can learn from them, challenge them, and reshape them.”Her creative process balances the tension between inheritance and transformation. With a personal lineage connected to a great-grandmother who grew flowers, her work draws from the past while imagining new futures—where colour bleeds freely, imperfection is embraced, and forms drift between the familiar and the fantastical. Her art invites viewers to pause, feel, and imagine alternative ways of seeing and belonging. Join the public opening on First Thursdays, where complimentary wine and canapés will be served.
