Open Studio at 155 Strand
Alouette Ferreira
Featuring a selection of oil paintings by Alouette Ferreira, a South African visual artist based in Cape Town. Born in Pretoria as one of identical twins, Ferreira spent part of her childhood in Los Angeles before her family returned to Jeffrey’s Bay in the Eastern Cape. After finishing school, she studied art under private mentorship and later pursued a Fine Art degree through UNISA.
In 2015, she was awarded a residency at Glo’art in Belgium, where she was selected as one of their top 100 alumni. Since then, she has exhibited in both solo and group shows, including at Alliance Française, DAC on Dorp, and Curatorial Edge. Her work explores themes of longing, identity, and connection—often expressed through emotive portraiture and a deeply intuitive use of colour, particularly blue. For Ferreira, blue recurs as a symbol of emotional longing, spiritual yearning, and quiet intimacy.
