Vela Projects is proud to present ODDSALUTE, Samuel Moscou’s debut solo exhibition with the gallery. An ODDSALUTE refers to a middle finger, a sort of punk way to describe an approach that prides itself on refuting the pressure to be perfect, refuting the audience’s desire for resolution or easy understanding. Yet, this tongue-in-cheek attitude belies the sensitivity that runs throughout his work. It is not mean-spirited. It is not farce. It is not ironic. Its symbols feel, in fact, oddly serene.
