About this programme item
This exhibition interrogates the myth of Cape Town as a neutral or apolitical space. It asks: What does it mean to be a truly African city in an age of rising inequality, forced displacement, and privatized urban futures? Through the voices of artists and thinkers, Make Cape Town Africa Again opens up a space for provocation, reimagination, and resistance. It refuses to accept the status quo and pushes back against the sanitized narratives that dominate urban discourse. It asks whether Cape Town’s current trajectory is a blueprint for African modernity—or a warning sign.
