Let’s Make Mistakes Tonight And Go For Therapy Tomorrow
Janine Glanz
Let’s Make Mistakes Tonight and Go for Therapy Tomorrow is a solo exhibition of new paintings by Janine Glanz, one of ten artists selected for the 2026 edition of WORLDART10, the gallery’s artist competition designed to discover and showcase exciting contemporary talent from across South Africa.
The title of the show is characteristic of Glanz’s disarming self-awareness: an artist who has spent years learning to let go of control, embrace spontaneity, and trust the process of painting as a form of personal discovery. The works on show are new paintings, each reflecting the restless, intuitive energy that defines her practice.
Working from her studio in the village of Riebeek Kasteel in the Western Cape, Glanz approaches each canvas without a fixed formula. Some works begin with a fully realised underpainting, whose traces and textures surface in the final piece; others emerge from a blank canvas and a single brushstroke made in the moment. What unites them is a willingness to be changed by the act of painting: to revise, overwrite, and discover along the way.
