About this programme item

An evening created for worldly travellers and wandering spirits. Live jazz by Ashè sets the tone from 6–8pm, followed by a salsa lesson from 8pm to 9pm, before the night unfolds into full-floor salsa dancing from 9pm onwards. Between rhythms, guests are invited to explore the Gallery Shop and the works of Marco Olivier, as art, music, and movement converge within one iconic setting.

Every First Thursdays, Grand Africa Café & Beach becomes a meeting place for music and movement. Live jazz soundtracks the early evening, before the energy shifts into salsa dancing—a celebration of culture, rhythm, and connection—set against one of Cape Town’s most iconic beachfront locations. Guests can expect ocean views, soulful sounds, and evenings that unfold naturally. Grand Africa Café & Beach also functions as a living gallery, home to a curated collection of works by acclaimed South African artist Marco Olivier. His bold contemporary pieces, exploring African identity, mythology, and modern ritual, are woven throughout the space, creating an immersive cultural experience where art, music, and hospitality converge.
