EMERGENT ECOLOGIES
Keonah Nyembe
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize, the BNAP Foundation launches its 2026 celebrations with Emergent Ecologies, a solo exhibition by Keonah Nyembe.
Keonah Nyembe is a Johannesburg-based visual artist driven by a deep curiosity about the human experience and our relationship with the natural world. Her work explores the complexities of identity, memory, and environment, often challenging conventional notions of reality. Keonah's primary artistic focus is on creating fluid, speculative environments that shift and mutate into otherworldly landscapes. The Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize (BNAP) Foundation is a South African non-profit organisation founded by artist Blessing Ngobeni to identify, mentor, and professionally develop emerging visual artists, particularly those from under-resourced communities. The foundation provides structured support through its annual art prize, exhibitions, residencies, and career-development programmes, with a sharp focus on long-term sustainability rather than short-term exposure.
