Nancy Lambrechts is a self-taught local artist. She currently resides in Stellenbosch, South Africa, but has also lived in the UK and Rwanda. She usually paints what surrounds her, what she connects with in daily life: subjects that are close, observable, and familiar. This includes the people she knows, as well as the landscapes and environments she finds herself in.

Nancy can often be spotted walking her dogs in the mountains above Stellenbosch. With pencil and sketchpad in hand, she pauses to take in the moment, sketching and making notes on the unique passage of time, the lighting, the mood, and the season. She strives to paint landscapes that evoke recognition, memory, and emotional resonance, where one can say, “I’ve walked that path. I know this place. I’ve seen those mountains.”Nancy paints in both oils and acrylics. Her style is impressionistic, with a bold use of colour and expressive mark-making.
