This is a central question at the heart of Alchemical (Im)possibilities posed by its curators Jean Brundrit and Svea Josephy.

Alchemical (Im)possibilities is a group exhibition that brings together works of photographers based in the Western Cape who are “extending photography’s pasts and futures” through their exploration of both new and old technologies. By foregrounding the process and materiality of the photograph, these artists consider how the present has been shaped not only by its histories but by its futures as well.
